Community not competition. We all have strengths to share with our community. Future media, like video games, should lead the way in equity, diversity, and inclusion. Valuing cultural consciousness and sensitivities is of the highest priority in all of our efforts. Education should not be a barrier to entry for underrepresented individuals to gain access to our fields.
Productions should be safe spaces for all creatives, but especially those of underrepresented communities. These include BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and any conversation about equity, diversity, and inclusion must also consider the needs of the disabled. Accessibility is inclusivity, and The Halp Network is in a unique position to make video games, television, and film come alive through the addition of underrepresented voices.
To get there, productions may need additional support. By offering experts to share their knowledge and experiences with others, we help to create more equitable and inclusive environments– from concept through production.
By working to recruit, mentor, and connect underrepresented creatives with paying opportunities, we create a pipeline of change. Equity and inclusivity better connect us to the shared human experience; it also allows for endless creative opportunities and explorations.

Actors and writers both know that dialogue can sometimes sound very different read aloud versus on the page. Phrases that seemed perfectly natural can suddenly sound stilted when delivered by a real, live human being. Strange scene rhythms, unmotivated turns, or forced characterization can come into clear view. Much of this clarity also depends on the skill of the reader. With non-actors, it can be more difficult to tell what to attribute to their relative abilities rather than the effectiveness of the writing. Some studios have in-house table reads or hire local actors to help discern whether scripts are working well or not. S.W.A.A.T. offers as vivid and reliable a sense of your script’s strength and readability as possible by filtering it through some of the best talent in the entire industry. (Perhaps your script is in fantastic shape and full of wonderful, defined voice already! Why not build on it with the confidence of confirmation?)
You will likely wish to test scripts with enough material to fill a workshop time window, and are somewhere between first drafts and being locked. Ensemble reads will greatly serve scenes where characters interact with each other (linear cutscenes map well to the table read format, for example.) Clearly story-driven, dialogue-heavy games stand to gain the most from this service – but any script that relies on human delivery in the final product will benefit from being spoken aloud by professionals. And, after all – it is totally free.
